WebApr 20, 2007 · What exhaust rubbers are you using, the standard ones aren't man enough for aftermarket exhausts really as their too heavy and they just stretch the rubbers. I got some wire reinforced ones on my mk1 which has stopped all the banging around, available from gsf for a couple of quid. WebJul 3, 2012 · Just did the replace frame and tub. 94/2.5L/4sp stock. I didn't change the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe. Used the old one. Now the exhaust pipe is hitting the front drive shaft. I can't figure any reason that anything has changed. I did install a 4" RC lift with the 2.5" springs and the 1" T-case drop.

WebJul 16, 2024 · Essentially the feedback knock seems to occur in the lower RPM ranges, I'd say sometime b/w 1.5-2.3k RPMs. The other key component is my engine has to be warmed up (e.g. oil temp >185). I have not yet been able to replicate it when driving with a "cool" engine, and this has been going on for some time now. WebMay 26, 2024 · If it doesn't, use race fuel to verify it's not real knock, after which you will de-sensitize the knock table, or (preferably) figure out where the noise is coming from, probably a metal part such as exhaust rubbing on the frame or something. Look for contact points around the engine and transmission and check the trans/engine mounts for play. I removed exhaust hanger along frame and added a couple washers in there to move hanger off frame a little and bolted hanger back up.
