I was advised that it was due to the hydraulic clutch that it was so high, but I don't know if I was being a fed a load of cobblers. Then if you pulled it at all, it disengaged complitely. Well, i assumed that the clutch is a goner, so i bought new clutch kit (friction disks, liningdisks and springs).
