Fuel Pump. by: Jim Zeiser. If I'm not mistaken Ruckuses have a fuel pump. I would check that it's pumping by taking off the fuel line and cranking the engine to see if fuel squirts. Prior to my purchase the previous owner, a friend, said he cleaned the carbs. Basically, she'll start up fine and idle around 1500-2000 rpm (full choke) but upon going to 1/2 choke or giving her any throttle, she dies. WebWhen the engine is cold, it needs slightly more fuel in the fuel/air mixture for it to start, which is what the choke does. The choke increases the amount of fuel in the mixture, creating a richer mixture. This allows the engine to function at its best until it has warmed up enough to run on its normal operating fuel mixture.
